media parents is a website and organisation which aims to pull all the short term, regular hours, job share and part time jobs in media into one place along with standard contracts, to help freelance working parents - or anyone experienced who wants to work flexibly - and to make it easier for employers to find this highly skilled and experienced part of the media workforce. 5,000 women and 750 men quit tv alone over the last 3 years - let's keep hold of some of the talent!
employers : would you advertise your short term (up to 6 months), part time, job share or regular hours jobs to a highly experienced and motivated sector of employees? you'd be crazy not to. would you consider using experienced producers in roles that, in the normal scheme of things they are over-qualified for, but they can fit around childcare? would you be prepared to let us know about jobs which would be workable for media parents, or people who for other reasons (illness, disability, age) might not choose to work full time? and might you consider restructuring some of the vacancies you have so that talented parents could at least apply for the roles?
we're not suggesting that media parents should work in any way that's different from any equal opps job advertisement - you're always going to want the best person for a job - but if we can spread the word further about flexible media work, and keep some good, experienced people working in media then surely we'll all be on to a winner.
talent : if you want to work flexibly in media, and have more than 3 years' professional experience, media parents is the jobsite to showcase your talent. media parents has the backing of some of the most successful and exciting creatives in media - both freelance talent and employers - so upload your CV and start networking now. as well as joining this select talent pool, you'll be able to use the watercooler function to swap information with freelancers and employers - want to know more about flexible working, where it's happening, who's amenable and approachable? need a nanny share? crewing up quickly? help yourself.
